Susan is motivated by things around her that catch her eye. It might be an unusual object in a strange setting, or it might be its angle or its composition. She always keeps her sketch book close to hand, ready to use when there’s a trapped moment in time. Susan enjoys sketching familiar objects around her home, outdoors and beyond. Many of these initial ideas find their way into her printworks.

Having first etched in the 1990s, Susan is rejuvenating her interest in etching and exploring new techniques such as aquatint, chine colle and adding watercolour washes on finished etchings. She also is curious to explore new printing methods such as lino cutting in her work. Susan is a member of the Reading Guild of Artists.
